Our Story

Good Karma NC was born from a deeply personal experience. Our founder, Ophelia Goodman, has a parent who is a quadriplegic. Witnessing the daily challenges and the lack of reliable transportation options for individuals with mobility impairments, Ophelia was inspired to make a difference. As an adult caring for an aging parent, Ophelia often accompanied her parent to medical appointments and aided him in his activities of daily living. She found that navigating the life and logistics of a wheel chair bound person came with a laundry list of challenges, their trips were frequently marred by logistical issues and unaccommodating vehicles. Despite the obstacles, Ophelia’s parent faced each day with resilience and a positive spirit, instilling in her the values of empathy, determination, and the importance of community support.

Our Services

Good Karma NC specializes in door-through-door service, setting us apart from typical door-to-door transportation providers. Our dedicated team ensures that clients receive personalized assistance from their homes to their appointments & back. This comprehensive approach includes helping with steps, managing mobility devices, and providing steady support throughout the journey, ensuring safety and comfort every step of the way. By focusing on this level of care, Good Karma NC exemplifies our commitment to truly accessible and compassionate service for individuals with mobility challenges.

We also offer Peer Support services. Our Peer Support Specialists have walked the path, faced the challenges, and emerged stronger. Now, they’re using their lived experience with mental health, substance use, trauma, or life instability to guide others toward hope and healing.
